If you’ve been stuck dealing with the same problems here is how to fix it.
First off, let’s talk about the cause.
There are problems that get solved quickly and easily, and problems that persist and keep gnawing at you.
It is the latter that makes up the reason as to why you feel stuck or feel behind on your goals.
👇And here’s the hard truth –
Persistent problems exist not because of the problem being unsolvable. Because if you put your ego down and stop seeing you & your business as a special snowflake, you’ll realize that MANY people have already solved the problems you’ve been stuck with.
Persistent problems are a reflection of your inability to think past the first step.
This brings me to the solution, and yes I’m going to give it to you today without doing a CTA.
So here goes…
We live in a microwave culture where entrepreneurs are conditioned by internet marketers to think in terms of instant gratification and quick fixes.
Consequently, this “I need to find a way to make more money now” mentality is exactly what keeps businesses stuck running in circles.
In order to break free from this trap we must practice Second-Order Thinking. 2️⃣
This is a mental-model where you factor in the long-term consequences of your decisions.
First-order thinking is fast and simple. For example, you can think of this as I’m behind on expenses this month, so let’s hustle harder and hoard money.
Second-order thinking is more deliberate. Using the same example, you will first think “when’s the last time this happened?”… and realized that while hustling harder and hoarding money helped you through the month, it has kept you stuck in the same income range for the past 2 years.
This leads to the next thinking prompt which is “If I keep making decisions the same way… what would the consequences look like in 10 minutes? 10 months? 10 Years?”
Most of the time, this will lead you to recognize the need to do something different.
Such as instead of hustling harder and hoarding money… maybe I should invest into a solution that will prevent me from re-encountering this situation ever again.
These decisions are hard to make, because first-order thinking will mostly lead to instant gratification followed by negative long term consequences. 🔴
While decisions made from second-order thinking will mostly lead to initial discomfort, followed by positive long term consequences. 🟢
Most people aren’t able to think past the first step. Even if they do, they can’t bring themselves to make the uncomfortable yet correct decisions. And that’s why most people stay broke.
Don’t be those people. Be smart and practice Second-Order Thinking.
